
Lauren Malone, Ph.D.

BIOGRAPHY
Lauren Malone is an expert in recruiting and accession policies, overall force quality, and veterans' transition issues. She has served as CNA's Scientific Analyst to Marine Corps Recruiting Command. She has recently completed studies on the challenges in recruiting (and retaining) physicians to the Army Reserve, Servicemembers' use of tuition assistance, and the impacts of COVID-19 on the Navy's enlisted training pipeline.Prior to joining CNA, Malone worked as a research assistant, teaching assistant, and instructor at UC Santa Cruz.
Malone has a Ph.D. and an M.A. in International Economics from UC Santa Cruz. She also has a B.A. in Global Economics and a B.A. in Latin American and Latino Studies from UC Santa Cruz. She is fluent in Spanish.
