BIOGRAPHYSteven Karppi is an expert in organizational analyses, operations research, and real-world operations analysis. Karppi has more than 30 years of experience at CNA. He began his career in 1987, serving as a Research Analyst in CNA's Submarine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Division. In the early 1990s, he was a CNA Field Representative. From 2002 to 2004, Karppi served as CNA Scientific Analyst to the Director of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Programs (OPNAV N20). From 2007 to 2018, he served as CNA's Scientific Analyst to the Director of Integrated Fires (OPNAV N2N6F3). Karppi received the Desert Shield/Desert Storm Southwest Asia Civilian Service Medal in 1991 for his work in support of Cruiser Destroyer Group Two while deployed to the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, and the Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force Meritorious Service Award in 2000 for his work in support of the operational testing of the MV-22 Osprey aircraft. He received the Advanced Technology and Systems Analysis Division Annual Award for Analytical Excellence in 2007 for his work in support of the Intelligence Community and OPNAV N2N6F3. He has a Ph.D. in Physics from George Washington University. He also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Virginia.
