James Baney, Ph.D.
Center Chief Scientist
James Baney is a Senior Research Scientist in CNA's Safety and Security division. He has over 18 years of professional experience in emergency preparedness, homeland security, and systems engineering. His recent research topics include preparedness assessments, preparedness systems, and critical infrastructure protection. He currently supports the Federal Emergency Management Agency's efforts to modernize its grants management systems and operations.
Baney has a Ph.D. in theoretical and applied mechanics from Cornell University and B.A. and B.S. degrees from Rutgers University.
