Capt. Kory Fierstine, (retired)
Senior Research Scientist


Kory Fierstine is an expert in acquisition policy, cost estimation, and cost analysis, as well as defense budgeting. His recent research is in the area of acquisition contract policy as well as major defense acquisition program (MDAP) and major automated information systems (MAIS) cost estimation.

Prior to joining CNA, Fierstine served nearly 30 years as a Navy officer, primarily as an S-3B pilot and aviation weapons and tactics expert. Operationally, Fierstine served in Operations Desert Storm, Sharp Guard, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, not only as an S-3 pilot, but also as Air Boss on USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Ashore, Fierstine was Commanding Officer, 33d Flying Training Squadron and his last years in uniform were in the Pentagon where he served as budget and acquisition cost expert for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial Management and Comptroller.
