
John Schaus
Research Program Director
John Schaus is an expert on US defense issues in the Indo-Pacific region. He has 20 years of experience conducting and leading analysis on the region.
Prior to CNA, he worked in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He has also led research at the US Army War College and worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He has spent two years living and working in northeast China.
Schaus earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
