Systems engineering— CNA tailors the systems engineering process to meet each project’s unique features, balancing performance, cost and schedule requirements to meet real-world operational needs. We take a holistic view, identifying how a new system fits into the existing framework, analyzing upstream and downstream impacts of changes, and understanding impacts on all stakeholders. We support programs from the earliest stages of mission analysis through implementation, and are often called upon to turn around struggling programs in progress.
Architecture and design— CNA uses proven systems engineering, architecture and design practices to ensure that we recommend practical solution architectures that are validated to meet operational needs. Integrated program management—CNA’s integrated program management (IPM) methodology provides actionable predictive insights on cost performance, scheduling and achievement of project goals. As part of our methodology, CNA uses the ISAAC® tool to enhance standard programmatic data for large software development projects and to detect potential cost or schedule issues sooner than traditional earned value management approaches. Lifecycle acquisition management—CNA has successfully supported some of the nation’s most complex acquisition programs, from securing the homeland and building defense capabilities to renewing the National Airspace System. CNA is a leader in forming and operating Program Management Offices (PMOs) for our clients to coordinate acquisition activities across complex client organizations. Our PMO support includes maintaining cost, schedule and performance control; coordinating with internal and external stakeholders; ensuring quality; and mitigating program risks.
