CNA has named Erin Mohres the recipient of its 6th annual Volunteer Service Award, recognizing her extraordinary commitment to community service spanning Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Mohres serves as the director of CNA’s Center for Homeland Security and Infrastructure Resilience as well as the AI strategy lead for the CNA Center for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy. Even with multiple hats at CNA, she still makes time to volunteer with a breadth and depth that belie her demanding professional schedule.

“I’ve had so many experiences volunteering that I just wouldn’t have had otherwise,” said Mohres, “While I appreciate being recognized in this way, I also feel like I’m truly just a representative of a much larger group here at CNA who dedicates a lot of their own time to causes they care about.”

Her charitable work spans nearly two decades and multiple causes. She has fundraised and delivers meals to roughly 15 households each week for the Takoma Park and Silver Spring chapter of Meals on Wheels. She has used her vacation time to serve as a nonpartisan election monitor across three elections. And she has sponsored and personally delivered gifts to families in need through A Wider Circle over the winter holidays. In addition, Mohres mentored people needing career support through the Virginia-based organization Britepaths.

“Given your deep dedication to CNA, your commitments outside work are all the more impressive to me,” said President and CEO Katherine McGrady when presenting the award, “It’s always hands-on for Erin, with a personal touch.”

The CNA Volunteer Service Award recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional impact, leadership, time commitment, and a breadth of volunteer service. Winners receive a commemorative plaque, recognition at CNA’s annual Volunteer Day ceremony, and a $500 donation to the charity of their choice. Previously, Erin also earned CNA’s Trustees Award as well as the CEO Teamwork Award.
