Shaun Williams, Ph.D.

Research Analyst

Shaun Williams is an expert in geographic information systems (GIS) and data science, specializing in geospatial artificial intelligence (geoAI), accessibility modeling, crime analysis, and environmental analytics. His work at CNA has included a drinking water supply chain analysis for FEMA, geoAI research leveraging computer vision for critical infrastructure, and developing GIS and data visualization decision-support tools. Williams led a collaborative project that placed second in the 2024 I-GUIDE Spatial AI Challenge, supported by the National Science Foundation.

Prior to joining CNA, his career spanned local government, the private sector, and academia. Much of his work focused on public safety, including support for emergency communications, law enforcement, and product management. His previous roles included serving as a GIS specialist with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands at Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk), and emergency communications database administrator in the greater New Orleans region.

Williams holds a PhD in geography from Louisiana State University and earned his GIS  professional certification in 2022.
