Geographical Region

As Table 8.3 shows, there was considerable variation in propensity, measured by the Advertising Tracking Study, in the Northeast, Midwest, and West census regions before September 2001. Given this level of variability, it is difficult to interpret the changes that occurred after September 11th, which are of lower magnitude. These changes do not show a general pattern. However, there was a substantial increase in propensity for the Northeast region from March 2001 to September 2001. This increase may have been caused by an unusually low value for the first quarter.
