Research for Maps

This research contribution describes the characteristics and extent of the world continental margin. The geological differences between the continental platforms and the ocean basins are described and portrayed. The paper describes in detail the amount and location of shallow water areas of less than 1000 fathoms (or 2000 meters). A bathymetric figure is shown for each area with a significant amount of shallow water. References for more detailed investigation are included. A contribution to INS Study 21.
