Statement on UN Security Council Climate Change Debate From General Gordon Sullivan, Military Advisory Board
Today, General Gordon Sullivan (USA, ret.), Chairman of the Military Advisory Board that issued the report of The CNA Corporation on National Security and the Threat of Climate Change yesterday, said:
"I am pleased that UK Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett addressed the important subject of the national security threats of climate change today. Just as the report our panel issued yesterday urges that climate issues become part of the national security agenda, today's debate in the UN Security Council puts climate change on the international security agenda. I would like to think that as a result of this meeting, international cooperation on this global challenge will increase, and together, we will work to make the world safer from the threats of climate change."
