ALEXANDRIA, Va. — CNA today announced that one of its longtime analysts, Linda Cavalluzzo, Ph.D., has been promoted to the position of vice president and director of CNA Resource Analysis.

Cavalluzzo was an analyst for CNA Resource Analysis from 1994-2009 before serving as managing director of CNA Education from 2010-2012.She is a senior economist trained in a range of research methodologies and has extensive experience in the design, execution and management of studies in a variety of public policy areas.

Over the course of her career at CNA she has contributed to both CNA’s Center for Naval Analyses and CNA’s Institute for Public Research – starting in 1979 with her work on readiness and logistics issues, and the relationship between tempo of operations and unit readiness. She was also among the first group of CNA analysts to connect OPTEMPO, training accomplishment, and unit performance, which laid the foundation for much of CNA’s readiness work performed since then.

As managing director of CNA Education, Cavalluzzo’s contributions spanned a range of issues, including teacher workforce matters; student achievement; the role of technology, especially in rural settings; the role and effectiveness of early childhood education; and the effective use of data by teachers and education leaders.

“Linda is an exceptional analyst and manager and we’re happy to have her back as a vice president,” said Paul E. Speer, president of CNA’s Center for Naval Analyses, which runs the Resource Analysis Division. “Her leadership will ensure that we maintain the high level of quality research and analysis our sponsors rely on.”

Cavalluzzo is the 2010 recipient of CNA’s Phil E. DePoy Award for Analytical Excellence. She graduated magna cum laude, with a BA in Economics and Political Science from State University of New York at Buffalo, where she also earned her doctorate.
