Alexandria, Va. — Kenneth J. Krieg, former Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, and Admiral John B. Nathman, former Commander of the Navy's U.S. Fleet Forces Command, have joined The CNA Corporation's Center for Naval Analyses as senior fellows.
"I'm delighted that Ken and John have joined CNA. Their expertise in areas that are crucial to our ongoing research projects, as well as their long careers in the public service, make them a terrific addition to the organization," said Christine Fox, president of the Center for Naval Analyses.
Ken Krieg was Under Secretary of Defense from June 2005 until July 2007. In that role, he advised the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense on issues including the Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition System, research and development, advanced technology, military construction, and environmental security. Before his appointment as Under Secretary of Defense, he served in several other roles at DoD, including Special Assistant to the Secretary and Director for Program Analysis and Evaluation.
At CNA, Krieg will work on issues relating to defense business processes, acquisition management, and ethics.
Admiral John Nathman retired from the U.S. Navy in June 2007 as Commander, Fleet Forces Command. Nathman served in the Navy for 37 years, during which time he held many high-ranking positions, including: Vice Chief of Naval Operations; Commander, Naval Air Forces; Director of Air Warfare on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations; and Director of Logistics for the Commander of the NATO Implementation Force during its deployment to Bosnia.
While at CNA, Nathman will work on issues including operational employment of naval forces and Navy oversight, planning, and management.
