ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA — CNA (CNA) today announced that it has received the Northern Virginia Family Service’s (NVFS) 2005 CARE Award honoring employers that provide "exceptionally family-friendly workplace policies and benefits for their employees."

"It’s truly an honor to receive this award," said CNA president Robert Murray. "We’ve always believed that the best work environment for our staff is one that takes into account their needs, not just as valued employees, but as individuals with families and responsibilities outside of work. So it’s very gratifying to have our philosophy, and the policies that support it, recognized by NVFS."

The CARE Awards, created in 1992, honor businesses located in Northern Virginia that promote a positive work-life balance for employees through company policies and benefits. The awards are also intended to encourage other companies to commit themselves to helping employees meet the challenges of balancing work and life.

"We started the CARE Awards when a growing number of counseling clients cited workplace stress as a major contributor to family problems," said Mary Agee, NVFS president and CEO. "Our goal was to bring attention to the issue by honoring good corporate citizens that other businesses could model their policies after—and CNA, and this year’s other honorees, are definitely the kind of positive role models we look for. Their policies make the lives of their employees better, and make Northern Virginia a better, healthier community."
