Alexandria, VA — Center for Naval Analyses President Christine Fox received the Corporate Leadership Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington on May 19th. Fox was among five honorees at the 19th annual Congressional dinner and fundraiser.

Fox was selected for this award because she "is a great role model" for the boys and girls, said Rynthia Rost, a member of the executive committee for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Rost nominated Fox for the award.

During remarks at the awards presentation, Fox said that the secret of her success is the encouragement she got from her family and mentors along the way. She encouraged those in the audience to go with what they're good at—and to see no boundaries in pursuit of their interests.

Established in 1998, the Corporate Leadership Award recognizes corporate executives who are role models for young people. Other award recipients included:

  • Roy Hibbert Jr. received the Dr. Edward C. Mazique Memorial Award, which honors individuals who have successfully met challenges and serve as a role model for young people.
  • Congressmen Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tennessee) and Michael Oxley (R-Ohio) were both honored with the Harry Duncan Youth Advocacy Award, which recognizes members of Congress who are advocates for the needs of young people.
  • Investment firm Friedman, Billings and Ramsey was honored with the Community Service award, which recognizes corporations that support of Boys & Girls Clubs programs.

The annual award dinner raised over a million dollars to support programming for the 25 Boys & Girls clubs that make up the Greater Washington region. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington serve over 35,000 kids from Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.
