Workshop: Using Data to Guide College and Career Preparation
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (CDT)

At this workshop, you will learn about research and data tools that match high school students’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) studies with their local job prospects.

  • Dr. Christine Mokher, CNA research scientist and author of the 2011 REL Appalachia report, Aligning Career and Technical Education with High-Wage and High-Demand Occupations in Tennessee, will break down the numbers for your region.
  • Ms. Martha Wettemann will then give a guided demonstration of two free resources offered by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development:
    • The Supply and Demand Analysis (SDA) Excel tool is an interactive spreadsheet that gives up-to-date, local supply and demand information on jobs corresponding with Tennessee’s Career Clusters.
    • The Jobs4TN website lets users supplement supply and demand analysis with occupational information.
