Event: CNA National Security Seminar Series – July 17

Joshua Landis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma and Director of OU’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies will discuss what lies ahead for Syria at CNA’s National Security Seminar on Tuesday, 17 July, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Landis, who grew up in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon is the founder of Syriacomment.com, a daily web log on Syrian politics, history, and religion, is a frequent contributor on Syrian affairs in scholarly reviews and in the U.S. and international media. His book, Democracy in Syria, was published by Palgrave-McMillan in 2007. He was an undergraduate at Swarthmore College and the Universite de Grenoble and received an M.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Near East Studies from Princeton University. Prior to joining the faculty at Oklahoma University in 1999, he was a lecturer in the Near East Studies Department at Princeton.
