CNA will host “Workshop on the Scientific Study of Military Children” at the Westin Georgetown, 2350 M Street NW, Washington, DC, on November 16-18.
The workshop will bring together experts to help create a research agenda pertaining to the development and well-being of U.S. children whose parents have served in the military and participated in the Global War on Terror. We plan to draw upon expertise from scientists who have experience with the special needs of military children; leading researchers of non-military child development with expertise that is relevant to the growth and development of military children; military families; and representatives from the federal government.
This workshop is supported by CNA—a nonprofit research organization that serves the public interest by providing in-depth analysis and results-oriented solutions to help government leaders choose the best course of action in setting policy and managing operations. The agenda for the workshop was developed in collaboration with Stephen Cozza, MD, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences; Richard Lerner, PhD, Tufts University; Mary Keller, EdD, Executive Director of the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC); Patti Shinseki, MA of MCEC; Margaret C. Harrell, Ph.D. of Center for a New American Security; and Kathy Roth Douquet, J.D., M.P.A., CEO of Blue Star Families.
Attendance at the workshop is by invitation only. For more information contact Ms. Bernadette Lynch (703.824.2804).
