Contemporary U.S. naval strategy presents a broad vision for the critical contributions of sea power to national and international security. Emphasizing a worldview of increased interconnectedness and globalization, the strategy focuses on the role of naval forces in maintaining and strengthening a peaceful and prosperous global system, elevates the prevention of wars to a level co-equal with winning wars, and underscores the strategic importance of presence, engagement and cooperative partnerships in fostering global prosperity, stability, and security.
"American Grand Strategy and Maritime Power" is a CNA-hosted conference of leading international security, foreign policy and strategy thinkers convened to examine U.S. naval strategy in light of emerging domestic and international conditions, and to discuss the strategic principles that should inform the naval Services in the coming decades.
Keynote speaker: former Secretary of the Navy, Richard Danzig.
