Dr. Sunil Dasgupta, director of the political science program at UMBC Shady Grove and a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution, will discuss the findings of his new book, Arming without Aiming: India's Military Modernization which he co-authored with Brookings Senior Fellow, Stephen Cohen. Set against the backdrop of India's new affluence, and newfound access to foreign military technology, the book explores what steps India has taken to expand its military, actions it might take in the future and the implications for the region. Dr. Dasgupta, who was previously national security correspondent for India Today in New Delhi, holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Illinois and has written extensively on South Asian politics and security issues.
