By default, EINSTein refreshes the battlefield after each time step to show the natural movement of all combatants. It is sometimes convenient to gauge the overall flow of events to have an on-screen reminder of past states. When the Trace Mode is enabled, the battlefield is no longer refreshed and shows previous time steps.
