Mission
CNA China Studies is dedicated to providing our sponsors and the public with the very best possible analyses of China’s emerging role in the international order, important issues in U.S.-China relations, and critical developments within China itself.
Hallmark
Whether focused on Chinese defense and security issues, Beijing's foreign policies, political developments, Chinese economic affairs, or social change, CNA China Studies analysts adhere to the same spirit of non-partisanship, objectivity, and empiricism that is the hallmark of CNA research.
Research Team
Our people are our strength. All of our seventeen analysts have lived, worked, or studied in "Greater China". All are capable of working with Chinese language materials. Collectively, our research staff brings to bear a diverse set of China-related experiences from civilian government positions, military careers, university faculties, research institutes, non-governmental organizations, and from the private sector.
Program
Our program is built upon a foundation of analytic products and China-related events. Our publications take many forms: research monographs, short papers, and briefings as well as edited book-length studies. Our events include conferences, guest speakers, seminars, and workshops. All of our products and programs are aimed at providing the insights and context necessary for leaders to develop sound plans and policies and for making informed judgments about China.
Outreach
In addition to drawing upon our own in-house expertise, we consider outreach activities critical to ensuring that a wide range of informed viewpoints are made accessible to our own researchers, our sponsors, and to the general public. To this end, CNA China Studies enjoys relationships with a wide network of subject matter experts from universities, from government, and from the private sector both in the United States and overseas. We particularly value our extensive relationships with counterpart organizations throughout "Greater China."
