Mission
The China Studies Center at CNA is dedicated to providing the American public, government officials, and business leaders with the very best possible information and analysis concerning China's emerging role in the international order and critical domestic developments and trends within China.
Whether focused on societal issues, domestic politics, economics, or foreign and security policies, the Center's programs and publications aim to advance the public discourse on Chinese affairs in the same spirit of non-partisanship and objectivity that are the hallmarks of CNA's approach to research and analysis.
Building Upon Success
The China Studies Center is a new entity within our corporation, but China studies are not. Since 1998, CNA has engaged in deep research on critical developments in China for a wide range of clients.
Today, CNA has one of the largest China analysis programs in the country. Fifteen strong, all of our full-time specialists have lived, worked, and studied in China. All speak Mandarin, and Chinese is their working research language. Their backgrounds run the gamut from government or military careers, to private sector endeavors and university positions.
The specialists in the China Studies Center represent a diverse, knowledgeable, and accomplished group with a proven record of producing analyses and events that are essential for understanding the dynamic changes in today's China.
Outreach
In addition to our own in-house specialists, the China Studies Center considers outreach activities critical to ensuring that a wide range of informed viewpoints, covering all sides of an issue, are made accessible. We seek out expertise wherever it resides to bring the best thinking to the topics we address. To this end, the Center enjoys relationships with a wide network of specialists from universities, from government, and from the private sector both in the United States and overseas. We particularly value our extensive relationships in "Greater China" and other points across Asia.
