Overview
The CNA Corporation established Project Asia in September 1998 in recognition of the need to enhance understanding of the important political, security, economic, and social issues emerging in the Asia-Pacific Region in the first critical years of the new century and beyond.
The geographic scope of its coverage includes: Northeast Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, China, and Central Asia. The issues that engage us are equally diverse:
- Security and military affairs
- Political developments
- Social change
- Economic development
Whether focused on near-term and current issues or longer-term trends Project Asia's analysts are on the cutting edge of providing objective and empirical analyses that are informing the public, government officials, and colleagues in academe. One of its many strengths continues to be looking over the horizon and identifying "the issue after next."
Project Asia's products are as varied as the issues it addresses. These include: regional security assessments, country profiles, issue papers, and edited volumes.
