Since April 2012, William Komiss, Ph.D. has been a senior research scientist at CNA. Komiss also began serving as the Scientific Analyst for Director, Energy and Environmental Readiness Division, US Navy, in November 2011. While at CNA, he has worked primarily on issues related to energy including the compatibility of renewable energy and Navy activities, economic impacts of disruptions to oil chokepoints, and links between water and energy consumption. Komiss' other research interest is manpower. He has participated in work on compensation targeted to increase sea duty and the effect of the 9/11 G.I. Bill on the Marine Corps. Before coming to CNA in 2009, Komiss received his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in June of the same year. Shortly after graduation, a major publishing house published his dissertation on the temporary help industry.
