Megan Katt is a research analyst in CNA's Stability and Development Program. Katt recently deployed to Afghanistan where she was the Chief Operations Research Analyst for Combined Joint Task Force PALADIN East. In this position, she analyzed enemy activity and identified trends of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Regional Command-East. Her most recent publication is a co-authored book (with Jerry Meyerle and Jim Gavrilis), On the Ground in Afghanistan: Counterinsurgency in Practice (Marine Corps University Press, 2012). Prior to joining CNA, Katt supported research on international security and national defense issues at the RAND Corporation, where she focused on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and counterterrorism. She received her B.S. in Business Marketing (with a minor in Political Science) from San Diego State University, and an M.A. in International Security Studies from Georgetown University.
