Jerry Meyerle, Ph.D., is the author of Counterinsurgency on the Ground in Afghanistan, Conscription in the Afghan Army, and Insurgent Tactics in Southern Afghanistan, as well as articles on regional security in South Asia. He is a frequent speaker on these issues. Meyerle has served on Afghanistan and Pakistan policy reviews and as an advisor to the commander of the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team in eastern Afghanistan. From August 2011 to March 2012, he served as an advisor to the commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force Forward in southern Afghanistan. He speaks Urdu, and has a Ph.D. in Political Science and South Asian Studies from the University of Virginia.
