Served for 30 years (1982 to 2012) as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of colonel. Transitioned to human resources assignments including command assignments in recruiting and recruit training following entry-level training and assignments in the field artillery. Key command and leadership assignments included: Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Montgomery, AL (1995-1998); Commanding Officer, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Parris Island, SC (2000-2002); Commanding Officer, 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District (2005-2008); Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, SC (2008-2009); Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Recruiting Command (2009-2011); and Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps (2011-2012). Key analytical assignment upon completion of the Naval Postgraduate School was as the Marine Corps’ Lead Manpower Analyst for the enlisted career force (1990-1993).
