Eileen Chollet, Ph.D. is an expert on the physics and phenomenology of high-energy charged particles in the interplanetary medium including “space weather.”

Experience

  • 2009-2011 Postdoctoral Scholar, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA. Analyzed the role of high-energy charge particles in space weather phenomena using numerical modeling.
  • 2004-2008 Graduate Assistant, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. Performed data analysis and numerical modeling of the transport of high-energy charged particles through the interplanetary medium. Studied planetary science, including geology field experience.
  • 2003-2004 Undergraduate Thesis. Studied asymmetries in the footpoints of solar flare loops using X-ray data from the RHESSI spacecraft.
  • 2002 Summer Student, National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Charted the velocities of stars near the galactic center using OH maser observations.

Education

  • Ph.D., Planetary Sciences, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, 2008
  • B.S. Astrophysics, cum laude, Rice University, Houston, TX, 2004
