Chris Sun joined CNA as a part of the education team in 2012. He is currently providing research and analysis support on the evaluation of the Northeast Tennessee College and Career Ready Consortium (NETCO) funded through an Investing in Innovations (i3) grant.
Prior to CNA, Sun spent over three years working with the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) and served as the organization’s contact on out-of-school time, school leadership, and teacher induction issues. This work led to the development of discussion guides for state-level policymakers on each of these issues. These discussion guides provide contemporary research on the topic, elements of effective practice, examples of state-level policy action, and a way for policymakers to hold a meaningful dialogue on the different topics and ask the appropriate policy questions. Before that, he worked with a non-profit in Chicago that assisted dropout foster-care students re-enroll in high school, graduate with a diploma, and transition to college or work.
He holds a master’s in public policy and administration from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and dual-degree bachelor’s in public policy and psychology from the College of William and Mary.
