Angie L. De Groot is a research analyst with expertise in national preparedness issues, emergency response operations and plans, international emergency assistance policy, and U.S.-Latin American security relations. Since joining CNA in 2007, De Groot has supported and led a variety of substantively different projects. She has experience reconstructing and analyzing real world emergency operations; conducting capability assessments and generating capability requirements; designing and evaluating exercises; formalizing public health and medical preparedness and response cooperation between the U.S. Government and international partners; developing international public health and medical emergency response policies; assessing the effects of U.S. Navy engagement operations on host country populations; and analyzing U.S.-Latin American security policies. From 2010 to 2012, De Groot provided on-site analytic support to the Division of International Health Security within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she helped the Department develop a framework for the deployment of public health and medical response personnel during international emergencies.

Prior to CNA, De Groot researched international non-state terrorism in support of the Global Terrorism Database and interned in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. She also conducted anthropological field research while studying in Corrientes, Entre Ríos, and Buenos Aires provinces, Argentina. De Groot holds a M.A. in international affairs from The George Washington University and a B.A. in international studies and Spanish from the University of Iowa.
