Amanda Borsky, MPP has mixed methods research experience in health behavior and health policy, particularly related to health promotion/disease prevention, health care quality and disparities, patient safety, and violence prevention. While at CNA, Borsky has served as Project Manager and Project Director for a variety of studies. She has experience with program evaluations, needs assessments, and other qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques. For example, Borsky has led numerous qualitative research efforts, such as developing focus group and interview guides, conducting focus groups and interviews, and analyzing their findings. She has experience managing teams of interviewers and coordinating their data collection and analysis. She also has experience conducting quantitative analyses including analyses with both survey and clinical data.

Borsky has worked on several studies designed to assess mental and behavioral health needs of military service members and families for the Department of Defense. She has also worked on the development and evaluation of a primary care intervention designed to increase colorectal cancer screening and follow-up for the Department of Health and Human Services. Experience with additional research topics include: improving primary care through methods such as the patient centered medical home, evaluating public health and medical emergency preparedness/disaster response efforts, improving patient safety and health care quality, and improving the safety and well-being of residents and beneficiaries in long term care facilities.

Prior to joining CNA, Borsky worked at the United States Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in the Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. While at AHRQ, she was involved with numerous aspects of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 and health disparities research. In addition, Borsky has experience working in health communications at Porter Novelli where she developed key communication and strategy messages and dissemination and communication plans for various health policy initiatives.

Borsky is currently pursuing her DrPH in Health Behavior (expected 2014) at the George Washington University (GWU). She received her MPP in Health Policy from GWU and her BA in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
