Albert S. Willner, Ph.D. is the director of CNA's China Security Affairs Group. His research interests include Chinese foreign policy, Asia-Pacific regional security, and U.S.-China defense relations.
Before joining CNA, Willner was an associate dean at Georgia Gwinnett College. He served previously as the U.S. defense attaché equivalent in Taiwan, where he represented Department of Defense interests. A retired U.S. Army colonel, he has served in multiple positions, including as a rotary-wing aviator, an Asia-Pacific strategic planner, and a military analyst. From 2000 to 2004, he taught international relations, U.S. government, and Chinese politics at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Willner holds a Ph.D. in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
