As a research analyst in CNA’s Resource Analysis Division, Adam Clemens, Ph.D. has focused primarily on manpower issues. He has been involved in examining the qualified population of potential Marine Corps officers, the Marine Corps’ performance evaluation system, the link between measures of recruit quality and their subsequent performance in the Navy and Marine Corps, and the necessary sustainment support ashore for the new Littoral Combat Ship. In addition to manpower analysis, he has examined aircraft maintenance costs and supported operational testing of communications equipment for aircraft.
Clemens graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in economics from Brigham Young University and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, where he earned accreditations in asset pricing and industrial organization before completing a thesis in personnel economics. His research is published in the peer-reviewed journals Economics Letters and Research in Labor Economics.
