Vice President, Finance/Accounting and Controller
With more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience with multibillion-dollar companies and in-depth knowledge of federal government contracting and commercial industries, Wanda Cook arrived at CNA in 2008 as the corporate controller and in early 2010 was promoted to vice president of finance/controller.
Prior to joining CNA, Cook spent two years at BearingPoint Consulting as the Financial Operations Controller responsible for financial planning and reporting of the $1B government contracting division. She also assisted with the company’s multimillion Securities and Exchange Commission reporting compliance effort. Cook gained valuable commercial experience during her five years at America Online and two years at Accenture. At America Online she served in progressive positions beginning as the Executive Director of Finance for two years developing the financial infrastructure of a newly created division and developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve financial management and operational performance. She was promoted to Vice President of Finance, Broadband Division, where she led financial planning and reporting efforts as well as the contract administration function, helping to transform this business unit from negative earnings to a $1B revenue division. At Accenture, Cook was the Finance Director for the Financial Services Division “Global Lines of Business Offerings”, where she worked directly with the strategic business partners.
Cook received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Old Dominion University in 1985 and passed the certified public accounting exam shortly thereafter. She serves on the board of directors of Excellent Options, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on facilitating academic excellence in African American youth. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, the Virginia Society of CPAs, the National Association of Professional Women, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
