Dr. Gilbert S. Omenn

Dr. Gilbert S. Omenn is Professor of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics, Internal Medicine, Human Genetics, and Public Health at the University of Michigan. He served as Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and as Chief Executive Officer of the University of Michigan Health System from 1997 to 2002. Earlier he was Associate Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and of the Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President, Washington, DC, and Dean of the School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine and Environmental Health, University of Washington, Seattle. His research interests include cancer proteomics, biomedical informatics, chemoprevention of cancers, public health genetics, science-based risk analysis, and health policy. He was recently appointed to the Scientific Management Review Board of the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Omenn received his B.A. from Princeton, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Washington. Dr. Omenn is a member of the Board of Directors of Amgen Inc., Hastings Center, Center for Public Integrity, U.S. Civilian R&D Foundation-Global, Salzurg Global Seminar, and Population Services International.
