Dr. DePoy&339;s association with the Center for Naval Analyses has spanned more than 40 years. Between 1959 and 1990, he moved through the “ranks” from analyst in the Operations Evaluation Group through several field assignments to Director, Systems Evaluation Group to Vice President (CNA) and Director, Operations Evaluation Group to Executive Vice President and Director of Research to President and CEO. Under his leadership CNA grew and changed from a sponsored organization to an independent one. After retiring as President and CEO, Dr. DePoy was a Distinguished Senior Fellow at CNA and directed a study of concepts for a next-generation aircraft carrier. He also directed CNA’s combat analysis efforts in the Persian Gulf War and established a support team for the 1992 Navy and Marine Corps base-closing effort.

From 1992-2000, Dr. DePoy was President and CEO, National Opinion Research Center (NORC), a non-for-profit corporation affiliated with the University of Chicago. He is now Visiting Professor of Warfare Studies; Chair of Expeditionary Warfare; Director, Wayne E. Meyer Institute of Systems Engineering, and Acting Director, Center for Executive Education, Naval Postgraduate School. His many honors over the years include the Defense Distinguished Public Service Award, the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award, the Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award, and the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Award. He has been affiliated with numerous agencies, boards, and panels—both public and private and presently serves on the CNA and NORC boards, is a member of Applied Physics Laboratory Advisory Board; the Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee; and is a Member of the North American Wildlife Park Foundation Board; Council on Foreign Relations; and Visiting Committee, Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Chicago.
