Dr. Cooper's distinguished career in the field of economics has been recognized both nationally and internationally. Now the Maurits C. Boas Professor of International Economics at Harvard University, he previously held positions that included: Chairman, National Intelligence Council; Chairman, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs; and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Monetary Affairs, as well as professor and provost of Yale University.
In addition to being awarded several scholarships and fellowships in his earlier career, Dr. Cooper is the recipient of the Foreign Affairs Award, U.S. State Department, a U.S. Navy award for Superior Public Service, and the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal. He is the Director and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Peterson Institute for International Economics; and a director of several organizations in both the public and private sectors. His past service as a director, consultant, or active member of numerous national and international organizations and agencies, spans academia and the fields of public policy, foreign relations, world trade, and national security. His most recent books include Boom, Crisis, and Adjustment (with others), Environment and Resource Policies for the World Economy, and What the Future Holds (with others).
