Dr. Aline Quester is vice president of CNA Resource Analysis. She is an applied microeconomist whose professional work has focused on labor market analyses for the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the civilian sector.

During her 26 years with CNA, Quester has worked as an analyst, project director, scientific analyst, department director, and team leader. She is a specialist in military manpower and personnel issues, from recruiting and placement to retention. She strives to make manpower and personnel decisions and policies as cost-effective as possible.

The recent focus of Quester’s work has been on operational tempo and Marine Corps retention, diversity in the Marine Corps, and stress on the force. Earlier, she directed a study for the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Accession Policy) that looked at the experiences the military services have had in recruiting noncitizens.

Quester received a B.A. in political science from Wellesley College in 1965. She completed her graduate work at Tufts University, earning master’s and doctoral degrees in economics in 1968 and 1976, respectively. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and is on the Women in International Security Honor Roll.
